Today we went through our usual weekly pitch/group chat with the fashion and graphics students. This is a chance for us to show the others what we have been doing for the week and since the start of the project. I found the fashion students work very interesting as it's something that interests me anyway. The picture below shows a variety of ideas they've come up with when given a set task. To me, this photo captures the diversity in people and personalities as it shows their ways of thinking and the styles they follow. I really like the physical journals as you can get a raw sort of feel when holding and looking through the book. They quite often stick 3d objects in their journals which adds more depth into their style. When I look at their journals, I tend to get lost in the style and lifestyle portrayed on the pages. For example, the one to the left is very bollywood/indian dance style and culture. Theres multiple objects stuck onto the pages which adds a deeper sense of the culture. By having something to physically touch, you get into the mindset. The one on the top right is based on grunge and the lifestyle of which said music artits live. The journal clearly represents grunge and the messy era. She made her journal very rough and vivid which again puts you in that type of minset. I really enjoyed listening to them talk about their project, this includes what they like and what they haven't been enjoing so much.
As well as looking at the other students work, I also had to pitch mine across to them showing them what I have been doing for the past week. I'm not a very loud or vocal person so this pitching task for me was quite nerve wracking and not in my comfort zone. Once I got started, I was alright as the girls I was pitching to were very kind, interested in my work and supportive in what I was doing. They asked questions and gave me pointers and tips of what I could do better and what was successful.
