My Visual Diary - Free The Nipple

For our Monday morning task, we had to create some sort of visual manifesto in groups which could be presented to the rest of our class. My group decided on creating a photomontage for 'Free The Nipple' as we believe anyone (no matter whether they're male or female) should have the right to be topless in public areas. In this day and age it's okay for men to be seen outside without a shirt on but when it comes to women its a completely different story. This is because of the way womens nipples are thought of in a sexual way against mens. It's something which both genders have but are thought of in a completely different way. Our poster was a light drawing of a women figure with pieces of newspapers cut up for nipples and text. The main manifesto title was put across the middle in the biggest text we could find whereas the other words; 'equality' and 'sexualising' were in blank space near the top corners. The 2 words we chose to add both say a lot about the problems against our views on peoples nipples. The word equality makes a statement about the problems of women against men. A lot of this 'free the nipple' manifesto is based on the differences in thoughts of male and female. The word sexualising is just stating one of the many reasons why male and female nipples are thought of in such different ways.
