My Visual Diary - Symmetry

When we started this project, we went through the assignment brief as a collective class. One of the examples we were shown was an Instagram page completely focused on symmetrical breakfasts and meals. I liked this idea as the photos were quite cute looking and had a sense of creativity to them. I found this picture on google images and decided to respond to it in a way which was slightly different but taking some elements from it. Below the original photograph is my take on it, I decided that I would use the same symmetrical element but I wanted to change up the composition. Where the composition in the original piece is from birds eye view, I wanted to get it from a completely different angle. I shot it so that it would be a point perspective type of shape, with the lines of fruit nearly leading into one. I tried to keep the background as simple as I could just like on the original as I was recreating this in my own way. I think this piece would’ve been more successful if I had positioned the fruit better or even added other kinds of foods/drink.
