My Visual Diary - Britain's Ocean City

When I was out and about I noticed how beautiful Plymouths Ocean actually looks from places like the hoe, the barbican and devils point. I wanted to capture this in wide pictures to get as much of the view in as possible. Thankkfully, when I was taking the first photo, one of the Brittany Ferries was just leaving for its travels therefore I could include this in the land/seascape.

When I downloaded the photos, the first one was originally a lot duller so I wanted to enhance the colours of the sky and the sea. I altered the curves and levels so that the ferry would become brighter and the sea would become a darker contrast. The photo was taken with a wide aperture so that as much light as possible could hit the lens. The second one originally looked quite dull and I wanted to make this even more prominent and I wanted it to have quite a depressing mood. I did this by turning it black and white and getting rid of any bright spots.
