Today we were set the task of completing a portraiture shoot using the lighting provided. We were using Arri lights against black and white backdrops trying to get photographs responding to famous photographers work. I managed to get 2 final photos which were okay in response other photographers and then some other nice portraits.
This first one was a photograph of Adam Lambert by Rankin. I wanted to capture the essence of the bright character against a moody background which is what the Adam Lambert one is all about.

The second photograph was the portrait of Johnny Depp by David Bailey, the photograph is very moody and has quite a lot of atmosphere. I think the composition of this piece is what adds a lot of the mood to the photo as the body action of the hands is quite different and portrays a vivid message of either being fed up or chilling out. It can be thought of in either way. In my piece I wanted to capture the same style compostition to see if I could get the same sort of outcome when it comes to the mood created by the hands. I think the hands in my photo go along more with the negative side of being fed up and in more of a deep mindset than anything else. In order to make it more like the original David Bailey piece I could've created more shadowing around the bottom half of the picture or used a model with similar dark hair and clothing to create more of a dark moody tone.

This last photo isn't one which I took inspired by any of the photographers I researched, it's just a standard portrait I took in order to grasp the idea of a typical profile shot. I think this piece is quite good at creating tone as when you look at this piece and the colours which are included, you automatically get quite a cold atmosphere surround you.
