Today as a part of our peer assessment task we were partnered up with another person in our photography class and had to go through our work with them. I was put with Amy who I had never really talked to so it was a great opportunity for me to do so. We both went through our work with one another which I found quite handy as it showed me what other people are doing with their work. After going through the work we had to choose two of each others images and evaluate them. We had to write a short paragraph including what we liked etc. Below is my evaluation of 2 of Amy's photos.

I really like the mood which is created in this piece by the mist as I feel it adds extra depth and dimension. I like the contrast between the dark and lights in the photo. The green also brings an extra something which is quite eye-catching. It looks like colour popping has been used as the rest of the image is made up from black, grey and white.

I feel like this photo really captures the emotion and feeling felt by the two girls. They look cheery and jolly which is a really nice way to make a portrait stand out. I think that by having a simple composition, it brings more wanted attention to the emotion and girls. I really like how the photo is black and white as it puts extra emphasis on the subject matter instead.

Below is Amy's evaluation of my photographs

I chose this candid photograph; I like how this photo has been altered to black and white as this makes the image more atmospheric. The contrast in the photo creates depth. Both moment and the direction of his gaze, also makes for a stronger image. I think if he had of been facing the camera, it would not have looked the same.

I like the angle Chelsea has chosen to shoot this image from. Your eyes naturally follow the movement of the stairwell, which makes the image flow. I enjoy the underground/urban feel to it - This is clearly demonstrated with how she has captured the graffiti. This image has quite a strong contrast which I like. Additionally, although I feel that this works well in colour, I would be interested to see a Black and White version as I feel this would highlight the strong tonal values within in this photograph.
