Bias

This afternoon we had a session on bias. The reasoning behind the session was to try and get to grips with things which are going on in the world at this current time as well as being able to pick up on when people are bias in the photography industry. The way we did this was by going through a selection of newspapers and trying to pick out articles and pictures which were bias and trying to get everyone else (readers etc) to think is the way they thing is correct. When you’re bias, you tend to be quite closed minded when it comes to other peoples opinions and why they may have those opinions. This is why some articles and papers are written in specific ways. A good example is when an article about a person starts with their religion, sexuality, race or even age. By including this right at the beginning (and often in capital letters) it points that out as a thing you need to pick up on as a reader. This means that if the article is about something bad a person has done, they’re trying to persuade you to think that everyone of that race, sexuality, religion or age group is the same. It’s a very close minded way of working.
