The Square - Editing

Before I could start my editing process, I had to create contact sheets and choose which ones I wanted to edit. Below is a picture of my contact sheet analysis. I have continued to use the same method as always when going through them which is ticks, circles, crosses, arrows and small words giving me indications.

I chose around 2 for each style or object so that I'd have a variety to choose from and experiment with. After I had narrowed it down to just 7, I edited them all completlely so I could then think about how I wanted to showcase them. Below I'm going to put the original photos and the edited versions to compare what I have edited.

As you can see, this edited version isn't that different to the original. This is because I like how it already looked so the only thing I did was lighten parts and use the dodge and burn tools in photoshop. I also used the clarify tool in photoshop raw to bring out more definition.

As you can obviously see, I combined all four photographs together and made it look like they're all coming from different angles. I made the black brushes even more dark and bold and the white background bright and plain.

This photo didn't need too much editing as it was how I had imagined the photo beforehand. The only thing I did do was clarify the image a little more and use the dodge and burn tools where necessary.

This photo has quite a drastic background colour change as it was extremely dark in the originl. I brightened it up in photoshop by pulling out the whites and highlighting more. I also pulled out more of the colour on the lipsticks by using the dodge.

The edited versions are all my selected four which I feel best showcase the concept and my work in general. I personally feel the strongest images are the coloures eyeshadows and the mascara brushes. I think they're both very statement making, bold and eye catching. The eyeshadows as its very colourful and bright and then the mascaras as its more abstract but as its black its very bold.
