The Hippie movement was a worldwide movement which started in California but soon spread across the world to countries all over including Canada and the United Kindom. It was a movement which tried to spread 'peace and love' to everyone throughout the Vietnam war. It started in the 1960s and lasted for many years, even to this day there are still people who live in the same way as Hippies in the 60s including the way they are towards people, the music they listen to and the clothing they wear.
Woodstock
Woodstock Festival was festival on a dairy farm in New York state in the summer of 69. The audience was made up of 400'000 peace and love fans. The festival was a big event which attracted many people who travelled from all over the country to celebrate the Hippie movement. The weekend consisted of around 32 acts (cts included The Who, Arlo Guthrie and Jimi Hendrix

Fashion
Hippie clothing was often something which made them so noticable, they wore clothing which at the time was 'out of the ordinary' and more about freedom than anything else. Their clothing was always created with environmetally friendly materials, was handmade or was passed on for generation so nothing was wasted. A typical outfit for a female Hippie was a loose skirt or jeans with a fringe at the ankles with flowers and patches of a variety of materials down the entire leg. Colourful tie-dye was very popular as the colours were seen as bright, happy and sent positive vibes to everyone. Suede boots were also very popular and lasted a long time which made things a lot cheaper. Pattern was a big influence on Hippie fashion as you would probably wear a mixture at one given time. Popular patterms were Psychadelic designs, paisley and stripes as well as almost anything found. Accessories for women were also a big part of the hippie fashion. Women often wore handmade jewellery or pieces derived from Native American or similar designs influenced by the environment and outdoors. Anklets were often worn by most hippies no matter what gender and quite regularly had bells on which could be recognized by society as hippie.
