Andrew Nadolski - The End of The Land

Andrew Nadolski has created a project all about the beach of Porth Nanven - focusing on the way it is shaped and re-invented everytime the tides comes in. A new landscape is formed everytime the waves crash against the shoreline and over time, he has managed to capture the changes which have occurred. He likes to observe the small and subtle changes to the landscape in the time he's there as it's very fascinating knowing that something which is there in one moment, will be gone the next. Below is an early contact sheet of his which was produced over a few minutes. It shows just what can happen to the shoreline, the tide and waves within a matter of minutes and it definitely shows the reason behind our world constantly looking different.

In an interview, Nadolski stated that his work was blatently a way of showing the change and alterations in the landscape but it's also a metaphor and a conceptual statement for life. The little changes all end up contributing to the bigger picture. Eventually, every little thing we do will help shape us in the long run. It's quite a simple thing to originally think of but when you get into the conceptual meaning, it can get extremely complicated as well as heavy. As he says in the interview, it's 'awakening'
