Mount Batten

For my first project shoot, I wanted to go to Mount Batten just to get to grips with taking photographs of the sea and beach style areas as it's not something I do too often if at all really. I took a Canon 600d with a tripod to Mount Batten but when I got there it was raining quite heavily. Thankfully I had someone with me to hold a strong umbrella as well as a hooded jacket. I tried to figure out the best settings for the style photographs I wanted to produce but eventually the weather got much worse and I was unable to continue with the shoot. When I had downloaded my images to my laptop I went through them and found out that as I wasn't able to use the tripod, my long exposures failed to work how I wanted as I had moved when trying to get the image. My shoot was overall quite poor as I only have one photograph I don't mind once edited which isn't the way it should be.Below is my contact sheet from the shoot with anotations of my thoughts of the photos and the selecting methods I went through.

When I went through my photographs I selected my favourite and only decent photograph and edited it in Photoshop. I altered the exposure a little as it was pretty dull and under-exposed as well as highlighting areas and adding to shadows. The final image from this shoot is below. I'm pretty gutted that the shoot didn't go well as I didn't get to know the camera settings the way I wanted ready for my project shoot.

When I complete my project shoot I'm now going to have to spend more time before getting used to the style photograph I'm taking.
