Beach Plastics - 3D Creation

As a part of this final project I had to produce a 3d piece of work so for this I did a bit of research into campaigns for plastic oceans. This piece below was definitely what inspired my 3d creation as it gave me the idea of creating something to throw back at people who pollute the ocean with plastics. The photograph below shows a 3d creation of a styrofoam dish filled with pieces of plastics found on a beach. On the front theres a label giving a price and a section which says where its to be sent to. I thought this was a very good and clever idea as it's campaigning against people polluting our waters. Its saying that the product should be delivered to the person who commited the crime in theory as it's not fair to ruin marine creatures homes and we wouldn't like it done back.

Below is my creation in response to the piece above. My creation was supposed to be a parcel like above which could be sent to the polluter. I think I could've made this better by adding a label with a quirky slogan or something to inform the viewer more.

Today I had my last shoot for this project and it was more of a studio based shoot. I created a studio at my flat as I felt it would work well better for what I wanted. I used a reflection disc as well as an umbrella when shooting as I didn't want any of the objects to make a big glare and bright light from the flash. I took the image from above as I wanted to capture the parcel of plastics from above to show the contents. Below is the layout of my lighting and other equipment.

The shoot went pretty well overall as I have a small selection of successful photographs. I'm happy with the way some of them came out but others I wish I had done them a little different.

Below is a picture of my edited image. Whilst editing this piece I kept in mind what I wanted it to portray for the project (which was objects and plastic pieces which are just thrown on the ground without a care in the world regardless of the environmental impact) and how I wanted it to feel. My aim for this was to point out the fact that the items don't belong on the beach washed up or in the ocean. Brightly coloured plastics aren't a part of the natural environment and they can be harmful to both marine animals, wildlife and humans too. I think the image portrays the concept quite well as the items were found on the beach and they shouldn't have been. I'm trying to make a point by keeping it colourful and bright to show how different these objects are to things which should be on and around the shoreline. To edit this image I had to slightly alter the exposure as well as boosting the contrast quite a substantial amount. I wanted it to be bold and bright so I enhanced all of the colours and increased the saturation a tiny bit. I feel like this shoot could've been much better but I only had a short amount of time.
