My Final Major Project

When mindmapping ideas for this project I had a lot of ideas but they were all relatively similar. As we're allowed to base this project on pretty much anything, my mind was full of possibilities but clouded also. I have always been a big fan of fashion, portraiture and pretty much any studio work including things like still life. In previous projects I've stuck to still life (when I had more of an option) and specific styles of photography when there was more of a solid brief. When I first got given the brief for the final major project I was immediately trying to think of potential projects. I started thinking down the lines of still life again as it's something I'm more used to and in a way it's a safety blanket, a blanket I need to try and venture from in order to challenge myself. I then started thinking about maybe incorporating still life into something which is cross photography style. I put together a short list of possible project genres which I would be interested in so that I could then narrow it down from there.
Final Major Project Ideas
Studio - Fashion - Evolution - Every 10 years?
- Portraiture - Personality/Character/Groups/Stereotypes/Lifestyle/Background/History
- Still Life - Macro - Foods? - Detail
Location - Landscape - Conservation of different areas?
- Street photography - Essence of Plymouth
This was a short list for me to explore my possibilities. After going over my thought process, I came to a conclusion of the style I wanted to work in was portraiture. In previous projects I have looked into portraiture but it never really came to much as I didn't have much time to work in the studio setting. This time I want to complete a project documenting a larger amount of people and objects covering a variety of personalities and personalities, upbringing, lifestyle, career path and just overall character. I want the images to portray these things within them making a big statement. A way I'm going to do this is focus on facial expression and body language when the characters are physically in the pictures as well bringing out the story behind certain objects in still life portrait shots.
