Angus Thomas

Angus Thomas is an award winning photographer from the UK. His photography career started very typical - family/friend weddings and other close events - and eventually branched out to the state it's in now. He is a lead portrait photographer who is known for working with Bring Me The Horizon (heavy metal band) along with many other famous artists. His work is definitely full of personality and can sometimes be quirky. I've gone through a lot of his work and picked out two of my favourite pieces. The two pieces both have a lot personality and build character within the setting, location and equipment. This first piece to me says a lot about the person as he's in a boxing ring, wearing boxing gear. To be a boxer you need to be strong, fit and positive so this photo tells you about his character and in a way, a story. I like this image as he's silhouetted by the light. His facial expression is forceful and fierce like he doesn't back down or give up. The use the colours black, white and red is bold and statement making but they also go together very well. The colours are in a way contrasting but at the same time go together overall as a harmonious palette.

The photograph below is my second favourite as it gives you two main characteristics. The location makes you think of someone who's fun and positive as its a colourful fairground ride which is where people spend free time to enjoy family/friend time. On the opposite side of that characteristic, her costume is contrasting as it is a formal suit which say the opposite to wacky and wild. The suit makes a different statement which is sophistication, wealth and hard-working. People in suits tend to be thought of as rich, high-up on the social ladder and business like so it portrays characteristics and personality within.
