A Day In The Life

To start off our new project we have been set a challenge to document a day in our lives. As I had been feeling unwell at the end of the last week I decided to complete this day of documenting today. Before getting on with my day I planned what I was going to do in order to document the day; since I'm a photographer I decided on simple photographs as well as a variety of panorama/time lapse work. I wanted to be a bit more creative with some of the things I completed throughout the day so I collected a few bits during the day when out and about and shot them in more of a still life situation in the evening.
At the beginning of the day I visited to my grandmother and granddads grave to put down some flowers and pay my respects. As my mother is unable to visited very often due to living 400 miles away I have taken it upon myself to visit quite regularly in order to preserve the grave and keep it looking pleasant.

When I had finished visiting at the cemetary I went for a short drive in the car so I could then go for a walk in a different environment to normal. I tend to walk nearby where I live but I wanted to see something different.

Whilst in the car, me and my dad usually fight over the music which is playing. We both bring a selection of cd's to play which we then take in turns with. To show this I took a photograph of my cd selection when I got home on a plain background. I tried to focus on the cd's I listened to more on this trip and less on the other ones I had with me.

When we finally got to the riverside I set up my camera with my tripod and lens. Thankfully the weather was absolutely gorgeous and I was able to get close to the ground for shots as it wasn't wet and muddy as well as take some long exposure shots due to the contents not moving in the wind. As I had a macro lens with me I was able to take some lovely detailed shots along with some lanscapes. I focused quite a lot on the macro as I really wanted to get in touch with the nature; the flowers, trees and leaves.

When I got home in the evening I got bored and took to thread and pin art. I do this quite regularly when I get bored as it helps me relieve stress and chill out when I'm in a bad mood. I wanted to create a piece which would fit in my mums house so I thought a seahorse was a good option as her house is full of ocean creation pieces and coastline relations. I found a simple outline and put pins in the parcel paper cardboard lid. I outlined the shape in these pins and then removed the outline paper. I then started with filling in the center with a pale blue thread. Even though I enjoy doing this, it's very tedious and can take a lot of patience. I stopped doing this when I got so far and decided on leaving the rest for another time. I wanted to take a few shots to show what I had been doing so used the macro lens to capture the pins and thread. I then took a photograph of the main piece from above.
